Kurilpa Derby is a beloved and long running community event.

With a long and rich history dating from 1986 inspired by the Boundary Street Festival and attracting audiences from across Brisbane, Queensland interstate and overseas, Kurilpa Derby has become Brisbane’s premier community-led event attended each year by thousands of happy punters with a focus on inclusion, diversity, tolerance and respect for everyone.

Our Objectives Include

  • Promote proud local traditions of inclusiveness, diversity and respect
  • Showcase local artists, organisations and businesses
  • Build strategic links with venues, organisations and artists within the community
  • Encourage participation via accessible submission processes, programs, venues and event statements
  • Maintain and facilitate ongoing audience engagement
  • Work democratically to realise event objectives
  • Resource and sustain a long-term vision for the Festival’s future
  • Showcase best practice working towards a net carbon neutral, sustainable event
